This course introduces students to the biblical principles and practical skills necessary for ministering to individuals experiencing crisis, grief, trauma, and significant life loss. Students will examine a biblical theology of suffering, grief, lament, and hope while learning foundational crisis intervention techniques, effective communication skills, emotional assessment strategies, and pastoral care methods. Emphasis is placed on understanding various types of grief, ministering during medical, relational, spiritual, and congregational crises, and applying Scripture compassionately in times of distress. Students will develop practical ministry competencies through case studies and counseling applications.
